Choosing the account type that best suits your needs can be confusing when you consider the different types of accounts that are offered, for Example: 

  • Individual or Joint
  • Company
  • Self Managed Superannuation Fund (SMSF)
  • Investment Club Account
  • Executors/Administrators Account
  • Trust Account
  • Overseas Residents Trading Account

  • Individual or Joint: - A standard trading account with one or two account holders.

  • Company: - A Company account is for incorporated businesses.

  • Overseas Residents Trading Account: - An Overseas Resident Trading Account offers all the benefits of a Trading Account is for people who wish to trade in UK equities but who do not live in the UK. In order to open an account you will need to complete the forms from your Broker that will allow you to use an Overseas Resident Trading Account. Also any relevant documents that allow you to choose any of the options offered. These along with documentation to confirm your name and address (such as passport and utility bill) which needs to be endorsed by a regulated intermediary (such as a bank, financial advisor, Accountant, Solicitor or Notary Public).

Once you have chosen the account type that best suits your needs you should then contact your broker for the required form/s. When you open a Share Account there are a wide range of optional services to choose from that makes managing your investments even easier.  Your broker should be able to explain these to you.
